Typhoon Chan-Hom Approaches

Well, just as we are working things out for some FEMA support for PIU in the aftermath of Typhoon Dolphin, another potential typhoon, Chan-Hom is moving on a path toward Guam and the Marianas.

Here is the current projection from the National Weather Service:

Tropical Storm Chan-hom is expected to pass through the Marianas as a typhoon over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service's latest forecast graphic shows the storm passing south of Guam midday Saturday, with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph.

The storm is expected to bring rain showers and thunderstorms to Guam starting Friday, and winds are expected to strengthen over the weekend, said weather service meteorologist Brandon Aydlett.

Aydlett said this morning that the storm could slow down as it moves through the Marianas. “This could extend the amount of inclement weather continuing into Monday,” he said.

The island can expect up to 12 inches of rain over the weekend, Aydlett said.

Keep Praying!
