Typhoon Vongfong Headed Toward Guam

Vongfong

We have another typhoon headed in our direction. According to the Pacific News Center a typhoon warning is now in effect for Guam and the Marianas

Typhoon Vongfong is still headed towards the Marianas and is expected to strengthen in the next couple of days, according to the 5am advisory from the National Weather Service. A typhoon warning is now in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan.

As of 4am Sunday Vongfong was located near latitude 11.9 degrees north and longitude 151.6 degrees east. It was moving northwest at 17mph.That forecast track would bring Vongfong through the Southern Marianas on Monday. Maximum sustained winds are currently 75mph but Vongfong is expected to intensify according the NWS.

I would very much appreciate your prayers. I am scheduled to fly out of Guam, through Japan and on to Dallas this afternoon. This takes me away from typhoon Vongfong but right into typhoon Phanphone which is sitting southeast of Japan. Right now, United Airlines says my flight is on schedule and ready to go. I will let you know how that goes. Also pray for Joyce, especially if I leave. Guam is expecting tropical storm level wind and rain but one never knows with these storms.

You can follow the storms here.
