March Prayer Requests

March looks like it will be a busy month for Joyce and me. We do appreciate all the people who pray for us regularly and financially support our ministry in Micronesia here at PIU. Here are a few things to pray about for us this month…

  1. Grandchild #5 - Joyce 400156_3209535925080_1466690669_33070418_361845858_a will be flying to Texas on Tuesday to stay with Missy and Cliff and be there for the birth of our 5th grandchild. Leila is due to arrive around March 15th so Joyce plans to be there a week early to help them get settled into their new house and get ready for the new baby. Joyce has never been there for the birth of a grandchild so she is very excited about this. Please pray for a a pleasant trip for Joyce and a quick and safe delivery for Missy and Leila.
  2. My Spring Trip - I will be flying out for my spring recruiting trip on March 12th (PIU’s spring break). My main focus for recruiting will be an academic administrator and VP of Advancement. I am also looking for a music/fine arts teacher and other liberal arts and biblical studies faculty. We could also use a Dean of men. I am also hoping to interview some volunteers to help us with our summer 2012 programs. My schedule is Santa Cruz CA 12-14, Nor California 14-16, Portland OR 17-18, San Diego CA 19-20, Dallas TX 21-25. I would love to see you if you are near one of these stops.
  3. PIU Days - March 9-11 will be our PIU Days celebration. The school is already divided into three teams for games, worship services, Please pray that it will be a good time of mid-semester relaxation for the staff, faculty and students and that God would build deeper relationships among the PIU family through it.
  4. Finances - Please keep praying about our financial situation at PIU. God has provided already through his people but we continue to be in need of donations to make our Spring semester budget. Also, we are applying for several grants. Please pray that God will provide the resources we need to pay faculty and staff and continue to provide accessibility to quality Christian education for the people of the Pacific.
  5. Student Recruiting - Spring break will see two teams from PIU heading out to do student recruiting. Lisa Collins and Daisy Murdock are headed to Palau to follow up on Daisy’s (and Mike and Samantha’s) earlier trips to recruit students. Student, Saladier Ilai will head to Pohnpei with Nico and Pam Daams (Isles of the Sea missionaries who helped us develop our new Bible Translation emphasis in our biblical studies program) to publicize the program and recruit new students. Please pray that God will guide the students as they make decisions about their college futures. Later in the semester a group of students will head to Yap to do some recruiting there.

We do appreciate your prayers. We have seen God work here on the PIU campus in so many wonderful ways and we know that God’s people praying all over the world are an important factor in that.
