Last Saturday was our 3rd annual PIU 5k. In the past we have had it in April or May, but this year, because of Guam Public Works asking us to delay it, we ran it in June. It worked out very well for us because we got a Saturday when nobody else was hosting a run. It also worked out that it was the first run of the summer. So this year we had 240 runners registered, almost tripling our previous registrations. So Joyce and I got out of bed at 3.30am and headed down to Chamorro Village to get set up for the PIU Summer Fun Run 2014. I’ll break up my pictures into a couple posts. Yes, that is Joyce smiling before sunrise in the picture. Titus is quite obviously happy to be up so early on a Saturday morning.
Celia (left) Nino (center) and Paris (right) got things set up. Thank you Paris for doing a great job coordinating the event and for many of the pictures I am posting!
We got the fruit, water, and everything else on to the tables for the runners
Titus and the girls were obviously more than ready to run
The runners were prepared (OK I didn’t really run)
Everyone enjoyed a little zumba warmup
Then the 5k runners lined up for the start…
