PIBC Objectives #4 - Biblical Worldview

At PIBC/PIU we not only want our students to know and understand the Bible, we want them to have the integrative skills to apply biblical truth into all areas of their thinking and lives. All human beings have a tendency to compartmentalize their lives so that what they learn from scripture does not impact the "walled-off" areas of their thinking. We want to help our students put on "Gospel glasses" so that they learn to look at the world and themselves through the gracious, eyes of Christ. The Bible does not have all the information about everything, but it impacts all the information that we get through our senses and through other sources. Biblical thinking is something everyone needs to grow into and we want to be intentional in helping our students with that process. The world systems are passing away but the people, cultures and nations will be redeemed by God working through his biblically thinking people. So our objective is to build a ....

Biblical Worldview: We want to develop Christian thinkers -- people who understand the world from a biblical point of view. It is not enough to simply understand the Bible: we want our students and graduates to integrate this transformational understanding into all areas of life as members of the global society, island cultures, families, and as individual followers of Christ Jesus. We do this by integrating a biblical worldview in the classroom and curriculum and by modeling a biblical worldview through the lives and interests of the staff and faculty.

  • that the student will develop a biblical worldview that integrates biblical truth with all areas of the curriculum
  • that the student will demonstrate the ability to use biblical knowledge to understand others, their institutions, and cultures.

The Spirit working through the Word can give us an opportunity to step out of our upbringing and evaluate ourselves and our cultures through the measuring instrument of God's Word. We want to help our students with the process (and they help us with it in our own lives too.) Many of our graduates are working in public and private school classrooms, business and other non-church professions. I am very blessed to see the creative ways many of them are integrating their Bible education into what they are doing and being a blessing to people they serve.
