Last night was the opening session of the 2015 PIU Ministry Equipping Conference at the Reef Hotel. 83 people attended and we expect more for the second session tonight. After a snack and fellowship time I began the meeting by introducing the PIU administration and Bible faculty, and sharing an overview of the PIU mission. I then introduced Dr. Kruger. A part of our vision for PIU and this conference is to bring top-level Bible scholars and theologians to this region to build up the church and we certainly have this here. You can find out more about him at his website: perichoresis.org. The title of the first session was, “The Heart of the Cosmos: The Relationship of the Father and Son as the Womb of All.” The key idea is that the Trinity (represented by the 3 chairs on the stage), before the foundation of the world, intended human beings to be included within the loving, whole relationship of the members of the Trinity and accomplished everything needed for that in Christ. Faith is the discovery and acceptance of that truth – the freeing idea that God is pleased with us in Jesus Christ.
Many PIU staff and students attended along with a wide representation of the Christian community on Guam. There are still openings to attend tonight’s (Friday) session. Baxter will be speaking in the PIU chapel today at 11am.
